Why a Psychoanalytically Informed/ Psychodynamic Psychotherapy? |
Psychodynamic therapy is designed to help people who feel stuck in their lives and who encounter difficulties in reaching their potential to experience inner and interpersonal well-being. Anxiety, difficulties managing feelings, depressions, and inhibitions are often signs of internal conflict. These can lead to occupational and relationship difficulties and, when left untreated, can significantly impact one’s life. The sources of these problems are often outside normal awareness which is why they can become irresolvable without help. By talking with a psychodynamically oriented therapist in a safe environment, a person has the opportunity to gain increased awareness and understanding of parts of their inner world that were previously unknown. This can help a person gain relief from unnecessary suffering by helping build awareness and emotional strength. Through a joint venture, patient and psychotherapist work together to build a person’s capacity to tolerate emotions, promote growth and development, and increase the capacity for the freedom to choose (to choose what is helpful or not and to act accordingly).

How Is Psychodynamic
|
Psychodynamic therapy offers a unique perspective. The therapist pays close attention to stories, fantasies, dreams, patterns of relating, and ways these patterns occur between patient and therapist. Through analysis of underlying meanings, patterns, and behaviors, a person has an opportunity to discover paths toward making lasting changes and towards healing from difficult or traumatic pasts.

Frequency of Treatment |
In order to gain the momentum to overcome lifetime patterns of relating and of being in the world, psychodynamic work may involve an increased frequency of sessions.
The frequency of treatment will be established between you and me. |
